The Australian cricket team that landed in Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai for the four-match test series against India were welcomed in a way nobody intends to. Read on..
With the test series scheduled to begin in the next week, from Feb 23, the Australian squad arrived in to play a warm-up match with team India-A. But startlingly, the Australian team, led by Steve Smith, who landed in Mumbai were seen carrying their heavy kitbags onto the vehicle at the airport.
Generally, porters are hired to carry the luggage to the hotel. But this is not the same case we witnessed here, where even star players like Steve Smith and David Warner were also seen loading the luggage on their own. Normally, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) takes responsibility in providing all these arrangements, but the board clearly failed this time.
The main reason behind this BCCI’s reluctance lies in after the funds for BCCI had been frozen by the Supreme Court for failing to oblige the recommendations made by Justice Lodha committee last year.
